Through a gift of $150,000 to CareLink of Northwest Georgia, Wellstar Foundation delivered on its commitment to bolster community partnerships that enhance access to care and create a healthier community for all.

Created in 2015, CareLink delivers quality healthcare to underserved communities in Paulding County, where 12% of residents are uninsured and have limited access to critical preventive and primary care services.

Wellstar Health System began its partnership with CareLink in 2018, donating the building where the clinic is currently located. This partnership ensures Paulding County residents have improved access to care, including behavioral health services, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.

When the staff physician retired, CareLink, the county’s only volunteer-run primary care facility, needed a doctor and the resources to fill the position. Our team members with Wellstar Community Health and Wellstar Center for Health Equity decided to apply for funding through the Foundation to meet the clinic’s need.

The $150,000 grant approved by the Wellstar Foundation Board will supplement the cost of a new physician for patients in the clinic twice a week.

The work of the Foundation is only possible because of generous contributions from team members, community partners, and individuals. If you would like to join us in daring to care big for the health of our communities, you can make a one-time donation or become a monthly supporter. You can even designate where you’d like your funds to go, investing in the causes and areas that are most important to you. To give, visit wellstar.org/donate.
