The Philanthropist of the Year Award is presented to a generous contributor whose commitment to Wellstar has served as an inspiration to others and whose donation has significantly impacted the greater good of the organization. 

Congratulations to Tom Golisano on being recognized as the 2026 Philanthropist of the Year honoree. Through the Golisano Foundation, Mr. Golisano has invested more than one billion dollars in causes that advance dignity, inclusion and access – especially for children and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

His personal giving expands impact even further to the causes he cares about most. Out of this generosity, we are so proud to celebrate a $50 million transformational gift to support the Children’s Hospital of Georgia – now named the Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia. This gift – the largest in our history – is already helping to expand access to lifesaving pediatric care for generations to come, and it brings Wellstar into the Golisano Children’s Alliance, a national collaboration advancing innovation and excellence in children’s health.
