Amanda was sidelined in middle school from participating in musical theater, sports and everyday life by Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a complex autonomic disorder. She experienced frightening, life-altering symptoms, such as fainting and racing heart, yet her bloodwork and heart looked perfectly healthy.

For so many, the issue is not the heart muscle itself, but the autonomic nervous system – the body’s operating system that quietly controls heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion and more. When this system fails, lives can shrink dramatically. School, work, independence – even simple daily moments – can slip away.

The specialized heart care she received at Wellstar — along with the support of her service dog, Charlie — helped her reclaim her life. “I have never found truthfully anywhere else such amazing people who care so much about the livelihood and wellbeing of their patients. And Wellstar cardiology – they changed my life,” said Amanda.

What makes Wellstar unique is not just that we treat autonomic disorders – it’s how we treat them. Amanda’s care is fully integrated with cardiology, imaging, rehabilitation, specialty care and more, allowing us to treat the whole person, not just a symptom. This is Heart Care the way it should be: collaborative, personalized, and deeply human.
