The Physician of the Year Award recognizes a physician whose career has shaped our organization and advanced world‑class, compassionate care. 

Congratulations to Dr. Harvey Sacks on being recognized as the 2026 Physician of the Year – Lifetime Achievement honoree. For more than 45 years, starting in 1978, Dr. Harvey Sacks has been a cornerstone of cardiovascular care in Paulding County, serving patients with skill, compassion and an unwavering commitment to access and quality. 

Joining Wellstar in 2008, Dr. Sacks continued to grow cardiovascular care in Paulding County, ensuring that patients could receive expert heart care close to home. His leadership helped establish the cardiac catheterization lab at Wellstar Paulding Medical Center, bringing life‑saving interventional cardiology to the community and transforming care for generations of patients. 

Today, as Chief of Ambulatory Cardiology, Dr. Sacks continues to lead with vision, advancing quality, patient experience, health equity and system-wide performance across Wellstar’s cardiovascular services. For a lifetime of service that has expanded access, improved outcomes and strengthened heart care across our communities, we are honored to recognize Dr. Harvey Sacks as our Physician of the Year – Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
