On March 25, Kevin Smith, SVP, Dr. LaTonya Washington, CMO and Erica Fishell, ED led a tour for Rural Hospital Tax Credit participants at Wellstar Sylvan Grove Medical Center, allowing them to see firsthand the impact of their support for the 2025 Georgia HEART Program.
Rural healthcare faces financial challenges due to demographic and economic shifts, and the Georgia HEART Hospital Program is helping enhance access to rural treatment with its Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program. This program offers a 100 percent state income tax credit for contributions to eligible rural hospitals, like Wellstar Sylvan Grove. Your participation helps improve financial stability, expand services and enhance access to care in Georgia’s rural communities.

Because of the Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program, Wellstar Sylvan Grove expanded its pharmacy, added a designated storage area and built a dedicated behavioral health room in the Emergency Department to help strengthen access to care in our rural communities and advance our vision of delivering world-class healthcare to every person, every time.

These funds will allow Wellstar Sylvan Grove to continue expanding critical services in 2027 by building a new physical therapy clinic, launching a primary care office and upgrading ultrasound and CT technology to better serve our patients. Your support makes all the difference.
