People recovering from severe burns from Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama returned to Wellstar Cobb Medical Center to share moving stories about how the care they received in Marietta changed their lives forever.

The Wellstar Foundation collaborated with the Cobb Regional Board to host the “Beyond the Burn” event, offering awe-inspiring patient testimonies about holistic care with cutting-edge treatments. The event showcased the revolutionary work and pride the hospital takes in continuing to lead by emphasizing emotional and spiritual well-being as part of the physical care offered in partnership with the Joseph M. Still Burn Center.

Medical Director and burn surgeon Dr. Travis Perry delivered a powerful presentation on the center’s approach to burn treatment. He emphasized that healing extends beyond physical recovery, addressing how emotional and spiritual well-being are equally vital. Dr. Perry credits a team approach to the burn center’s success, utilizing a multidisciplinary unit that also works to provide advanced tissue preservation and reconstruction techniques to deliver critical care for burns and wounds.

Wellstar’s world-class burn and wound treatment center is one of only three in Georgia.
