In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact, Augusta faces a citywide power outage that has rendered local gas stations inoperative. In a remarkable act of generosity and community support, SA White, a Marietta-based oil company, coordinated with the Wellstar Foundation to deliver 13,000 gallons of gasoline to Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta. This crucial delivery is helping ensure healthcare workers can continue their vital roles without disruption.

Kim Gresh, the owner of SA White and Wellstar Foundation Emeritus Trustee, quickly responded to the urgent call from Wellstar. Understanding the dire need, she immediately dispatched a driver with 4,400 gallons of fuel to serve Wellstar employees on September 30th, with plans to return multiple times this week.

“When I was on the call, I knew I had to do something. I decided to dispatch a truck immediately and donate the gasoline to ensure critical care at the hospital was uninterrupted, especially in the aftermath of the hurricane,” said Gresh.

Ralph Turner, president of Wellstar MCG Health, expressed profound gratitude for the generous donation. “Thanks to Kim Gresh and SA White’s incredible support, our healthcare workers can continue providing essential care to the community. This donation is a lifeline, ensuring that our team members can get to and from the hospital during these challenging times.”

The donation by SA White is a testament to the power of community resilience and the spirit of solidarity. As Augusta navigates the aftermath of the hurricane, this initiative highlights the importance of coming together to support those on the front lines of healthcare.

“It’s a challenging time across Georgia with the flooding and power outages, and we’re grateful to lend a hand. We deeply appreciate the hard work of those on the front lines of healthcare and are honored to support them,” said Gresh.

“Strong partnerships are vitally important to the success of non-profit community hospitals,” said Julie Teer, president of the Wellstar Foundation and senior vice president for Wellstar Health System. “We are grateful to Kim Gresh and SA White for their quick response and generous support of Wellstar’s frontline healthcare workers and the Augusta community.
