“Giving back is just so important — it’s part of my family’s culture, and philanthropy is at the center of my family’s business, S. A. White Oil Company. I first served with the Wellstar Board of Trustees in 2000, and from there, a love was started. Even after all these years, I’m still so passionate about the health of our communities, and I’m proud to have helped re-launch Women of Wellstar — an initiative that brings women leaders together to ensure that all women have access to the healthcare they need to be happy and thriving.”

The Power of Partnership

Volunteers

Goodr Mobile Market Bus
We recently kicked off our third season of the Wellstar Mobile Market providing fresh food, health education and resources to thousands of our friends, neighbors and community members. Our partner Goodr provides a week of fresh, nutritious groceries and Wellstar’s Community Health team shares health education resources. Every Mobile Market has a Benefits Specialist from Wholesome Wave Georgia who helps connect community members with other resources, such as public benefits, to ensure they have sustained support. And it’s all possible because of support from our Wellstar Center for Health Equity and the Wellstar Foundation.

Roswell Rotary Club
Created in response to the persistent increases in and severity of behavioral health needs of teens, Roswell Teen Talk is a five-episode limited series podcast produced through a partnership between the Wellstar Foundation and Roswell Rotary Club. It is a locally grown production that features authentic peer-to-peer content and stories that are guided by Wellstar behavioral health providers. The podcast addresses a wide variety of topics related to behavioral health and suicide prevention and offers resources in the North Fulton community. To tune in with your teen, click here.

PCs for People
This past January, the Wellstar Foundation coordinated with Wellstar’s Information Technology department and PCs for People Atlanta to donate a truckload of computers, monitors and peripheral IT equipment. These items will be securely wiped, refurbished and prepared for distribution to individuals and families in need. PCs for People is a national nonprofit organization that works to bridge the digital divide through affordable computers, internet access, responsible e-waste recycling and digital education. We are proud to partner with our community on opportunities to enhance health equity, behavioral health, innovation and workforce development.

Jim Ellis Automotive Group
Jim Ellis recently donated $5,000 to the Wellstar Foundation to purchase a new Starlight Nintendo Switch in the Paulding Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department. The gaming system, already in use among ChildLife Specialists at various Wellstar facilities, helps patients like one 10-year-old girl who missed her family vacation while in the hospital for a week and half. What this little girl enjoyed more than anything was playing the Starlight Wii U! She competed in the car driving game every day with her Child Life Specialist. We strive to find ways like this to give our patients a sense of comfort and joy during every day of their stay with us.

Urban League of Greater Atlanta
Wellstar Foundation partnered with Urban League of Greater Atlanta to launch a YouthBuild Clinical Career Pathway program to address healthcare provider shortages in metro Atlanta and strengthen the nursing pipeline. This program offers students the opportunity to complete their certification and state licensure while being paid, full-time employees. It’s supported through a grant from the Department of Labor and includes a special focus on a career path for certified nursing assistants, creating opportunities within healthcare for economic mobility and diversity in the workforce.

S.A. White Oil Company
S.A. White Oil Company partnered with the Wellstar Foundation to offer thousands of gallons of fuel to team members across our system. The oil truck was sent to our healthcare heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes at our laundry facility and distribution center. It also stopped by Wellstar East Point Health Center, Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, Wellstar Spalding Hospital and Wellstar Sylvan Grove Hospital.
