Funding Children’s Care

Your donation to Wellstar Children’s helps ensure that we can continue to provide the best possible care to our patients and their families now and in the future. Generous contributions provided by the community support our greatest needs like our Child Life department, camps for medically fragile kids, our facility dog program and training for the next generation of caregivers.

Part of Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals – including Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia – across the U.S. and Canada. Donations from corporate partners and supporters in the 38 counties surrounding Augusta and Savannah stay local, funding critical treatments, pediatric medical equipment and helping make sure every child receives the best possible care. When you give to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, you give to Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

    Our Impact

Thanks to the support of our donors, donations help fund the programs and services provided by Wellstar Children's Hospital of Georgia to thousands of kids each year.

    Providing Adventure for Every Child

Nearly every child enjoys summer camp, but some kids can’t go because of health challenges. Fortunately, Wellstar Children’s operates more than half a dozen summer camps to address those specific circumstances.

Camp Strong Heart, a weekend camp for children who have a heart condition, and Camp Rainbow, a week-long camp for children with cancer and blood disorders, are just two of the camps that give our patients access to traditional camp-like experiences.

    Transforming Hospital Stays for Kids

Child Life Specialists are trained professionals who are educated in child development and skilled at working with children and families to assist with the challenges of a medical situation or hospitalization.

Two of our Child Life Specialists also serve as handlers for Nugget and Casey, our facility dogs. Their jobs are to provide individualized therapeutic interactions with patients and families.

Creating Quiet Havens for Premature Healing

Giraffe beds are a special isolette bed used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide premature infants with a quiet, warm environment to grow and mature.

Giraffe beds provide an environment that promotes minimal stimulation and maximizes the healing process for premature infants. Lights, sounds, and temperature inside the Giraffe bed mimic the mother’s womb.

    Revolutionizing Pediatric Rehabilitation

Through the virtual reality platform REAL y-Series, Wellstar Children’s pediatric rehabilitation team can encourage patients to perform physical activities in a functional, clinically relevant manner.

This platform offers virtual reality activities that assist with promoting motor function, cognition, dynamic movements and static/isolated movements for pediatric patients.

Fueling PICU Growth and Mental Health

Donor funds allowed us to hire a Developmental Behavioral Health Pediatrician and begin building the Kisner Foundation and Friends Center for Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness, just for kids.

Currently our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has 14 beds and, thanks to your donations, we will be adding 8—totaling 22 PICU beds. This expansion will allow Wellstar Children’s to serve even more children in need of critical care.
